Arashiyama Park (Kameyama Park)

If you walk west from Tenshi no Sato for roughly 15 minutes or so, although there are many people in Arashiyama itself, as soon as you take a step up the mountain, you’ll find yourself in a quiet, peaceful place. That’s Arashiyama Park. It is full of nature -- in spring, the cherry blossoms, in summer, the fresh greenery, in autumn, the brilliant autumn colors -- meaning that there is something new to enjoy every season.

The entire mountain is maintained as a part of the park, so on a day when the weather is good, you can go out picnicking or for a walk with your SD, and as there are tables and chairs in many places, you can spread out your lunch, relax in comfort, and even take plenty of pictures!

At the summit of the mountain, you can enjoy the scenery of the Hozu River, and depending on the time you may also be able to see the Torokko train go by.
The bamboo thicket that lines both sides of the paths from the Okochisanso gardens all the way to Nomiya Shrine is often used for filming of television shows, so please be sure to take a walk around there!

Arashiyama Park is on a mountain, so I definitely recommend that you wear comfortable clothes and footwear!
Also Arashiyama Park is full of nature, and very carefully managed and maintained, so please promise me that you’ll take care not to damage the flowers or other plants.
Also please don’t forget to be mindful of the people around you when taking photos.
